Mission of the CBSC Sailing Team
A chance to have fun with a purpose! The CBSC Sailing Team is an opportunity for individuals to be introduced to the lifelong sport of sailing. As a sailing team rather than a summer class, sailors will be exposed to all aspects of the sport such as mental training, physical fitness, and competition. One of the main motivators to attend a program like this is to learn new sailing skills and to enjoy being on the water. The CBSC Sailing Team is meant to be fun and recreational first and foremost.
Competitive sailing is the same as other competitive sports with the objective always being the achievement of your personal best performances. Sailors will learn to measure this against the skills and objectives they can control. Finishing results are always less important than the learning and execution of the skills they practice. Although dinghy sailing is not strictly speaking a team sport, the club expects sailing team members to attend practices regularly. The skills needed for success often require a number of boats to run effective drills. No matter the individual goals, modest or lofty, team members must participate with enthusiasm and a matching level of effort.
