The BC Summer Games were held in Abbotsford between July 21 and 24, and the Comox Bay Sailing Club was well represented by the following sailors!
Rachel Anderson – Optimist
William Howard – Optimist
Shaina Friedman – C420
Jessica Reynolds – C420
Nate Bell – Coach
Nate Bell has provided the following write up for us!
The CBSC sailors at the BC Summer Games were sailing on Harrison Lake (a very beautiful venue surrounded by mountains). Lake sailing was a new experience for all of our sailors, and they had to learn how to deal with the lack of current, the shifty breeze and the fresh water.
On the first day the sailors were met with gusts as high as 24 knots. Everyone did very well and the gusty conditions left them exhausted! On the second day we saw slightly less wind – 10 to 18 knots – throughout the day. The team’s performance improved on the 2nd day with the lighter pressure. William Howard climbed from 4th to second on the podium to claim sliver for the blue fleet! Rachel maintained very consistent results in the top 10 of red fleet. Jessica and Shaina also did very well learning how to cope with higher pressure, and Jessica was able to overcome her skepticism of the trapeze on the second day.
A well deserved congratulations to all! Thanks to everyone who helped get the team safely to and from Abbotsford and especially to Nate Bell for providing coaching support and the write up.
